The company 'Annual Return is replaced by the 'Confirmation Statement'

As of 30th June 2016 Companies House removed the need for an 'Annual Return'. Instead all companies (whether active or dormant) need to file a Confirmation Statement.

The Confirmation Statement serves broadly the same purpose in that it ensures that Companies House has the most up to date information on each company. The main difference with the Confirmation Statement is that you don’t need to resubmit details that have not changed so if the directors, shareholders and registered office remain the same
then they will not be shown on the Confirmation Statement.

Register of People with Significant Control

Since 6th April 2016 companies are required to have a register of people with significant control, known as a PSC register. New companies formed after this date will already have this register, however Confirmation Statements that are prepared for companies formed before 6th April 2016 must include details of their PSC register.

Filing Deadline

The filing deadline has been shortened from 28 days for Annual Returns to 14 days for Confirmation Statements. If your company fails to file a Confirmation Statement then they could be struck off the Companies register.
